Anna Parker
How would you describe your teaching style?
Playful, strong, compassionate, alignment-based
Was there a moment when you knew that teaching yoga was for you?
No, it was a slow realization.
What is your favorite class to teach at HAUM, and why?
SmartFlow, Slow Flow + Sound Bath
What is your favorite class to take at HAUM?
SmartFlow with Annie!
Is there a moment from teaching at HAUM Studios that has stayed with you?
I taught the last ever in-person yoga class at Yoga Tree, on the eve of the Covid shutdown, at the Stanyan location - now Haum’s Haight studio. The first time I returned to the space to teach after it was reborn as Haum, the feeling was indescribable. Loss, but also hope, renewal, and a powerful reminder about attachment and change.
What can students expect when they walk into one of your classes?
Fun, sweat, and mindfulness. On a lucky day - gongs!
Anna began teaching yoga in 2006 after completing teacher training at the original YogaWorks in Santa Monica during the heyday of yoga in Los Angeles. Her teaching experience includes extended residencies in Australia and Costa Rica, and she has led and assisted teacher trainings with Folk, SmartFlow, and YogaWorks. Her classes are playful, strong, compassionate, and alignment based, bringing fun, sweat, and mindfulness in equal measure. Anna also carries a deep history with this community: she taught the last in-person class at Yoga Tree's Stanyan location on the eve of the Covid shutdown, in the space now reborn as HAUM's Haight studio, and returning to teach there has been a powerful reminder about attachment, change, hope, and renewal. She is endlessly fascinated by gongs and loves leading sound baths, so on a lucky day, students can expect their practice to close with a wash of sound.
