How would you describe your teaching style?

Grounded and spacious. Intentional. Embodied. Rooted in mindfulness and practical wisdom.

Was there a moment when you knew that teaching yoga was for you?

When I finished my teacher training in India, I knew without a doubt that I would find a way to teach yoga in San Francisco. During my very first class, I felt a full-body YES and I continue to feel that to this day.

What is your favorite class to teach at HAUM, and why?

Vinyasa + Meditation is my favorite class to teach because we get 90 minutes to immerse ourselves in the practice. From a full flow to a long savasana to meditation and breathwork, it feels unhurried and complete.

What is your favorite class to take at HAUM?

I always learn and feel something new in my body in Annie Carpenter’s SmartFLOW class.

Is there a moment from teaching at HAUM Studios that has stayed with you?

I taught on my birthday a few years ago and it was honestly one of the most special teaching moments I’ve ever had. There was so much love in the room and I definitely cried. Thank you, dear Haumies!

What can students expect when they walk into one of your classes?

Intentional sequencing (we’re going somewhere), steady pacing (we take our time), breathwork (woven throughout) and mindfulness (aka bodyfulness). You will be guided with purpose and clarity. You will be challenged just the right amount. My hope is that you leave feeling more at home in your own body, heart and mind.

Always a student first, Yvonne is deeply committed to living and sharing the timeless teachings of yoga. She approaches the practice from a holistic perspective, weaving together intelligent sequencing, embodied awareness, breathwork, and practical wisdom. With clear instruction and quiet space, she encourages each person to discover for themselves their own path to steadiness and ease. Her primary teachers are Kia Miller and Jason Crandell, who have inspired her dedication to ongoing studentship and personal evolution, and she is a graduate of the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program, which has profoundly shaped the way she navigates the human experience. Yvonne believes that all of life is practice: what we learn on the mat informs how we live off the mat, and how we relate to our inner world shapes how we move through the outer world. Every moment is an opportunity to practice, to meet ourselves, to remember what matters, to breathe and begin again.
